An international experience is essential to a 21st-century education in design and visual arts and is integral to our curriculum. Students are encouraged to participate in study abroad programs to further their education as global citizens who are fluent in international cultures and practices.
The Graduate School of Architecture & Urban Design offers semester-long studios and support courses in Helsinki, Finland, and Buenos Aires, Argentina, as well as a summer-term curriculum in Barcelona, Spain. Students may also participate in a summer program in Florence, Italy.
MArch 2 and 2+ students can realistically incorporate one international semester into their curriculum, while MArch 3 students can pursue two of the three advanced semesters abroad.
For each of the international programs, instruction is in English and the instructors are part of the Graduate School's faculty. Tuition and living expenses are held at the same level as for semesters in St. Louis.
