Phillips Honored in Montello Student Design Competition

Graduate architecture student Julia Phillips has received an honorable mention in the Montello Foundation Student Design Competition for the Desert Waypoint for Contemplation and Exhibition. Her proposal was selected from more than 50 entries from around the world. She will receive a $500 award and have her submission published. In addition, her project will be considered for construction.

The jury members included:
- Benjamin Aranda of Aranda\Lasch
- Ali Hocek of ACHA New York
- Susanne Wagner of Bauereignis Sütterlin Wagner Berlin
- Members of the local community and members of the board of the Montello Foundation

Phillips created the project as part of a spring 2018 studio led by professor of practice Eric R. Hoffman, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP. For the studio, 12 graduate students organized into four teams and worked on both individual and team submissions for various national and international design competitions.
