Art on Campus Lecture: Tom Friedman

April 19, 2017
6p reception, Kemper Art Museum; 6:30p lecture, Steinberg Auditorium

Internationally recognized artist Tom Friedman (BFA88) will discuss his practice, including his recent sculpture, Swamp Creature Friends, commissioned for Washington University’s Art on Campus program. Installed last summer on the South 40, the main residential area on the Danforth Campus, the sculpture reflects the blend of humor, surprise, and everyday life that Friedman’s works are known for. The life-size artwork is made of a continuous loop of green painted steel and depicts three “swamp creatures” side by side, with arms positioned so that students and visitors are invited to join their embrace.

Free and open to the public.
