Henry L. and Natalie E. Freund Visiting Designer Lecture: Gabriel Asfour

Gabriel Asfour, who has over 25 years of combined experience in the practice of fashion and art, will deliver the Henry L. and Natalie E. Freund Visiting Designer Lecture. He founded threeASFOUR in 2005, partnering with Adi Gil and Angela Donhauser.

Recipients of the Cooper Hewitt National Design Award in 2016, the collective has built a legacy of fusing high technology with traditional craftsmanship. Drawing core aesthetic from the universal language of sacred geometry, threeASFOUR is devoted to the creative exploration of collective consciousness and cultural coexistence.

threeASFOUR's work has been featured in several museums and galleries worldwide, including the Manus x Machina exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (2016) and #techstyle exhibition at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts (2016). Their designs are in the permanent collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Met Costume Institute, and the Cooper-Hewitt Museum.

The trio have collaborated with numerous brands such as Kate Spade and the Gap, as well as various artists and musicians, including Björk, Yoko Ono, and Matthew Barney.

Since 2012 Asfour has been teaching various courses at Parsons School of Design in Fashion, Integrated Design, and the new MFA in Textiles program. He is devoted to promoting individual creativity, freeing his students to strive for their unique voice and ultimate creative potential.
